Have a regal myself Chris and from time to time it will show signs of white spot and then it will disappear. When i was a novice i would panic at the sight of this in my tank but imo whitespot is a parasite thats present in all tanks. I have 12 tangs and the regal is the only one to ever have whitespot. I add liquid garlic to all my feeds and leave it to soak into the food and again imo thats the only reason my tank aint infested with whitespot.

Latin name for this fish is Hepatus. also commonly known as blue tang or pacific blue tang and palette surgeonfish. Only species of tang that has no co species

Ever tried putting cleaner shrimps in your tank, i had some in mine, really interesting characters. They are meant to feed off the parasites on your fish, and the fish lets them. I only noticed it a few tiems. But i think the shrimps are at there best when the tank is dark or at night time.

Id imagin Ger has a few, and a cleaner Wrasse. Ger have they created a cleaning station in your tank????? Never noticed anything like that in mine as i only had the one cleaner. But surely with a few a cleaner wrasse and a f load of tangs you would have stood a better chance of seeing this than anyone? I use to just stick my hand in the tank and let my cleaner just pickk away at my hands yep Never had any fear, sometimes it was irritating trying to do maintenance in the tank with super shrimp clinging to your hand laugh

Bluestreak cleaner wrasse are a must in my tank. Yes the will eat most parasites but not whitespot, same applies to a cleaner shrimp. Whitespot can bore into the skin of a fish or live in the gills.
Because i am now keeping predator fish i had to get rid of my shrimp before they became a big mac meal.

You done very well Pete never to have got any white spot with the tangs, this tang along with the powder blue/ powder brown and the achilles are prone to whitespot due to having very small scales and also they are highly strung fish which causes the slightest thing to stress them out. These two factors combined make it more subceptible to whitespot then most other fish.
