Scientific Name: 'Aequidens' pulcher

Pronunciation: -kw-dns pl-chr

Common Name(s): Blue Acara

Geo. Origin: Venezuela & Island of Trinidad

Diet: Omnivore

Gender Differences: Dimorphic

A great beginner fish. Tolerant of more varied water conditions. Males have an ornate dorsal fin with an orange edge. They are difficult to sex at a young age. Though omnivorous, they prefer a meatier diet.



Breeding: Substrate Spawner

Temperament: Mildly Aggressive

Conspecific Temperament: Aggressive

Maximum Size: 7"

Temperature: 78°F

pH: 6.5 - 7.5

Water Hardness: Soft
