Gosh this is a hard one; depending on whether fish only; or reef with just soft corals I suppose then the cost could be kept down to a ceratin degree. The killer is the skimmer;lighting system;liverock;some sort of a reactor depending on what you want in your system. Then not to mention of course the livestock-fishes and corals).

Feeling the knees go weak as Im trying to recount the costs! yep

(have a used juwel rio 180 ex marine tank Im still trying to sell off; comes complete with everything bar live rock and fishes yep )

I wouldn't mind having a bash at it, it's the water that's putting me off

Ye its horrible to say it to people but no matter wheat way you skin it , its going to cost a fair bit of cash. Even with my marine tank i got so far with it that if i wanted to add more to it or improve it id have to spend some more serious cash so i just broke it down wink A lot of time and regular cash is a definite

I had a marine setup years ago in a 3 foot tank. I didnt stock corals cause thats tricky to keep right. It was fun at start, but i found it got boring after a while cause the fish seem shy

One of the big things that put me off marine was the cost of salt, its bloody expensive if your doing big water changes each week. i think i was paying £18 which only did about 120 litres of water.

Stick with the africans they are more attactive, they breed and are colourful :)

Yeah left out salt and other addictives to dose on regular basis too!

@Minky you are right;the cost is rather high and not to mention constant constant monitoring

Have to agree with you on that one Paul. For me the most rewarding part was when certain fish start eating from my hand after months of trying it.
