A couple of royal plecs
These guys were out posing so I took a couple of shots.
The smaller of the two is about 8 inches. The big guy must be 10 inches but is a much bigger, thicker fish.
He's a bit skinny in the belly so keeping him well fed and he is keeping me busy with water changes every day...

Cracking fish there, how do you find he is coping with all the water changes ? What percentage water changes are you doing ?
Re: A couple of royal plecs
Nice pics! Are they a pair? They are quite impossible to breed in the aquarium yes?

Re: A couple of royal plecs
Cheers guys,
They don't grow quickly at all, maybe an inch a year. Their diet is mostly wood and greens, protein would make them grow faster but cause digestive issues.
They don't move a whole lot they do look cool though.
@Lee no real monster tanks at the mo, biggest is maybe 1000 litres but it'll take these guys a long time to outgrow the tanks I have
@Kelly, I'm changing about 30% a day. He is eating about half a courgette each day so really messing up the water.. Going to move him into a tank on his own whenever the Mick fella gets the finger out and collects the Rostratus pair I'm holding for him
@Andrew, these are actually two species of royals. They tend not to get on well together, I have another royal in with the smaller one and they're forever swiping at each other. They have been bred in aquaria by accident before though.
Cheers,
Patrick

Re: A couple of royal plecs
Thanks just wondering as I was doing the water changes on the tank mine are in everyday but started worrying cause I know they like pretty stable conditions so cut them well back
