need some marine help
ok i caught out today on this one.
some lad came into shop and asked about setting up a lobster tank in a restaraunt.
what does he need.
lets say for 8 lobsters.
so i need a tank 4foot 240?
sand live or coral?
open top tank, does it need lights or will a simple suspension light do.
water ..can it be taken direct from the sea.?
chiller to keep temp down.
live rock as a filter how much.
external to pick up dirt and cleaned every week.
will this do or what else would you recommand.
maybe a cleaning crew.
after setup how long until he can add lobsters.

Hi Dave; what lobsters is he keeping? Native ones? as you asked bout chillers; I have a lobster tank in the restaurant that came fitted with a compressor chiller to keep temp really cold so they dont feed while in display tank; hence no need filtration /live rock/cuc
If it is tropical species than yes you can go live rock sand coral etc ; lighting T5s will be plenty.

good man andrew i knew you be the man on this one.
yeah its for native fresh from the water, ive being reading about they dont need to be fed.
so if they dont feed and keep temp similar to irish sea (5 to 8 degrees)with a chiller then thats it...

Great info Andrew. I saw a nice set up recently when in spain. They had it right outside the restaurant and temp that day was 24 degrees .
